Nick groaned softly, peeking out over his arms that were wrapped around his knees that were bent to his chest. He saw a somewhat familiar face. He didn't know the name because frankly he was skittish around police, too many times the police were used as a threat against anything he did by whatever family he was staying with at the time. He knew this detective was an old friend of Pappaw Het but he had never spoken to the man himself nor stayed near him when he and Pappaw visited. Nick felt safer in his room.
